Sheet Metal Workers bend,cut,shape and attach metal to make products and structures. They work on roofs, gutters, siding, ventilation, heating, air conditioning,and duct systems.They also work with plastic and fiberglass materials.
In Tippecanoe County,Sheet Metal Workers are on the job at Purdue University
Industrial sites include Subaru Indiana Automotive,
Wabash National, Caterpillar and Evonik. .
To help the community, members volunteer for Dollars Against Diabetes, the annual Christmas Parade and Habitat for Humanity.
The Local has 1,788 Indianapolis/Lafayette members and retirees, and there are 4,226 members statewide. Membership benefits include pensions and annuities, incentive plans and health and welfare insurance programs that continue through retirement.
Local 20 members also operate a credit union and contribute to a national scholarship program. An independent trust fund helps stabilize earnings and employment.
